"The BIGGEST Little Museum in Cornwall"

The museum is housed in a Georgian building on Fore Street in central Lostwithiel. It was originally the Corn Exchange and  has also been a school-room, a butchers, a magistrate's court, a Fire Station and the town jail. 

The museum was opened on 21st August 1971 and it is now is now a fully accredited museum and a registered charity, which is run entirely by volunteers.

The museum closed for the 2024 season on Saturday 26th October 2024

The museum  re-opens on Monday 7th April 2025  and will close on Saturday 1st November 2025.

Town Heritage Walks re-start on Wednesday 9th April 2025 and finish on Wednesday 29th October 2025

Our  window display for November features Lerryn History Society.

Lerryn History Society (LHS) researches and records the development of the parish of St Veep, and the part of the parish of St. Winnow that lies in Lerryn, as well as the settlements of St. Winnow and Couch’s Mill.  For more  information about  LHS see their website.
